The following changes and improvements were implemented on all Iconclik customer sites.
When attaching a document to a wiki post, the “Title”, “Category” and “Keywords” are no longer “mandatory” fields when uploading a new document into the library. After clicking on “Attachment files” and then “Upload New File”, you only need to click on”Browse”, locate the document to upload and then click on “Upload”. The upload process automatically picks up the file name and uses it as the document name in the system. It is no longer required to enter a document name, a category and a keyword before uploading a new document. However, these fields are still there and can be used “optionally” if someone prefers to override the document title, or add a few keywords to make it easier to search for the document.
A new type of icon has been added: the “File” icon. This type of icon allows you to open a document directly when a user clicks on the icon. The “File” icon can accept the following types of documents: Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Visio (.doc, .docx, .xls, .xlsx, .xml, .ppt, .pptx, .vsd, .vsdx), plain text files (.txt), Adobe Acrobat (.pdf), various picture file formats (.jpg, .png, .gif, .bmp, .eps, .tif) and compressed files (.zip, .rar). When you create a new “File” icon, the document attached to the icon are uploaded to our Cloud server. When you delete the “file” icon, the uploaded document gets deleted from our host server.
The “Tag” field has been added to the icon “creation” screen. Previously, this field only appeared after an icon had been created and when re-editing the icon. Adding a keyword to the “Tag” field allows you to improve search results for the users. The “Tag” field is also used to produce reports on icon activity, popularity and usefulness.
The “Menu sub-folder” icon type has been removed and is no longer available when creating a new icon. This menu option created some problems with our “breadcrumbs” tracking system since Web browsers do not refresh properly when opening up a sub-menu window. If you have created menu sub-folders in your Iconclik site, they will be converted into regular sliding menus.
